Also called Dzong Sampa, Jomsom is a town in the Mustang region, Nepal. This is the starting point for the famous Jomsom & Muktinath Trekking.
While some trekkers would drive overland from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then Nayapul before their Jomsom trek, some would fly into Jomsom Airport from Pokhara to save time.
The 3 airlines that ply the route between Pokhara and Jomsom are Nepal Airlines, Sita Air and Tara Air. When the weather and visibility in the area is good, there will be daily flights between the 2 airports. The total flight time should not take more than 30 minutes.
Besides serving as the alternative access to Jomsom Muktinath trek, Jomsom Airport is also the gateway to Kagbeni, Tangbe and Lo Mantang. For Upper Mustang trek, trekkers would usually fly from Pokhara to Jomsom Airport before trekking to Kagbeni.
